Testimonials from Members

Hannah Breeze

Press & Policy Volunteer

Hannah is a 20-year-old student who was involved in Press and Policy Volunteering at Youth Action. Hannah studies Journalism with Politics in Preston, and commuted to Blackburn on a part-time weekly basis. She put her skills to use by writing press releases, designing promotional material and helping at Youth Action events. She has gained a lot from her experience, and continues to be involved now.

She has learnt more about team-working skills and has developed many more useful skills, as well as making new friends and contacts. She decided to get involved with Youth Action after seeing the internship advertised on the ‘Do It’ website.

Hannah really enjoyed her time at Youth Action, and said: “Volunteering at Youth Action was great fun. I really learnt a lot, and the teams were so friendly. Volunteering part-time meant that I could continue with my university degree whilst still helping. I would recommend volunteering with Youth Action to anybody.”

Hassan Butt

Member

My name is Hassan I first got involved in youth action a couple of years ago when my friend introduced me.
I have been a member since and took part in many projects, trips and residential’s.

My most memorable experience was visiting London to learn about the parliament especially enjoyed going on the London eye as I was scared of heights.

Youth action has helped me to be more confident and chance my interests in art, politics.

Youth Action also delivered a course to the Youth Advocacy Group which I attend this course was all about gap years and what you can do. With Youth Action's guidance I am now preparing to help the world and give something back to young people who need help. I feel that doing this will be an exciting experience for me and will develop my social and also team work skills.

I feel that it is important to have a positive impact on today's society and so that young people are looked to do good in the world and not bad.

Ranaa Mehta

Young Perosnr

I started youth action in my gap year. I had heard of youth action a couple of time while at college- well I’d seen the posters but I never took much notice of them, as I hadn’t really heard about how great it was.
I was introduced by a friend, I was glad she had started going to youth action. I wanted to do something in my time that would open me up to new experiences, explore my place as a young person in the community.

My most memorable experience was the faith trail I like learning more about other religions plus communities living close together. I have always felt that respect in community’s leaves with understanding. I got a chance to learn about elements of the larger religions in more detail at this time in society in Blackburn religious.

I have had new experiences which I wouldn’t usually have had normally. I have a chance to present plus speak which are skills I wanted to work on plus it looked good on my CV and personal statement.

Suhail Hussain

Suhail Heard about Youth Action through his older sister Saleena who is a member of the Youth Advocacy Group.

Suhail has taken part in various projects since he has joined Youth Action. Suhail wanted to do something which could enhance his social skills and personal development, so he joined the Youth Advocacy Group.

Suhaul commented “My most memorable experience so far at Youth Action is when we recently went on the trip to Coldwell residential with Youth Action, and one of the team exercises was to go canoeing and I was teasing other people about falling in and I guess you could say it was fate that I out of all the people to tip the boat drenching me and my peers”.

Suhail's experience so far has been outstanding and Suhail hopes to carry on his journey with Youth Action and get involved in more.
