Call To Duty

We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone. In October 2015, following the horror of the human tragedy of (Aylan Kurdi), it was this child's plight which encouraged the Call to Duty group of local young people to come together to Help tackle the refugee crisis.

The Call to Duty group have pledged to raise money to help the refugee crisis.  They have done very well so far, with three European aid deliveries completed.

The Groups Story so far:

In light of the refugee crisis we started to fundraise by taking to the streets, local business & within a space of just 12 days we managed to pull in just over £18,000 in donations - which was all used to purchase essential aid (sleeping bags, food packs etc) to give to those in need. Thank you for your support!

The reality out there is extremely difficult to describe, we cannot begin to explain the sheer amount of people - children, women, elderly & the walking wounded have nothing. Just waiting for YOUR help.

As volunteers we pay all our expenses to ensure 100% of the funds donated are being spent to help the Refugees.

We, as a group of friends, are going to be travelling out to Europe on a regular basis throughout 2016 & need your URGENT help.

Our main aim this time is to provide winter clothing via our Winter Pack which includes a scarf, hat, hooded top & a pair of gloves. Will you please support us to help those in most need?

Updates from YA

We at Youth Action have been very busy recently providing new opportunities for young people in the North West. Take a look at our update on our projects and programmes so far.

Youth Advocay Group

What have we been up to:

Youth Action's longest running group the Youth Advocacy Group has recently been launched again for another year. So far the young people in the group have been looking at different social action ventures which they help to support people in the local community. This season we set the aim to give our young people the opportunity to work as a team to develop the skills they need in the future to succeed with their social action ventures. The young people have been looking at different types of ways they can raise money to buy essential items for young homeless young people whom they will then gift wrap ready to send onto them before Christmas.

If you would like to help out our Advocates to succeed with this challenge get in touch and see how you can help. Call us on 01254 695847

Holiday Clubs and Saturday Youth Club

What have we been up to:

We have been very busy over the Half Term break providing a daily activity group for the young people of Blackburn with Darwen. The young people have had lots of fun over the week, from creative art sessions to a Halloween Party at the end of the week they have done its all. Now the group has come to an end the young people now have the opportunity to continue their journey with Youth Action in the Saturday Youth Club.

The Saturday Youth Club looks at key issues facing young people in the local community in a fun and interesting way. The young people in the group have the opportunity to develop their skills to become a more positive and proactive citizen in the local community. Many of the young people in the group enjoy coming to the group on Saturdays to meet new people, make lots of friends, learn something new and most importantly have lots of fun.

Our Saturday Youth Club is open to all young people aged 6 to 14 and runs from 10am till 1pm every Saturday. For more information or to book a place for your child please get in touch on 01254 695847

O2 Think Big & Digital Marketing

What have we been up to:

Our Social Media and Business Apprentice, Anas Patel, recently attended a youth partner network event in London with O2 Think Big. Youth organisations from all over the UK came together to learn from each other and to take back key information in order to enhance their skills and to apply their learning to new social action projects. The main focus of the event was around digital marketing and how it can help young people through the creation of short films, setting up websites, using social media and coding. Anas took part in activities to learn and gain knowledge about digital marketing and how it is a very essential tool for young people wanting to make a difference.

Do you have an idea for a project that can help the local community? O2 are offering young people across the county up to £300 to make it happen! Get in touch and speak to our facilitators or visit the o2 Think Big website ( and put forward your project idea to receive support on making it a reality and even some money to put it together. Every idea can help to bring change in your community, help to empower other youths and make a difference.
